The Scheme for Fellowship to Under Graduate Students for Various Faculties of Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University pays Rs 3,000 a month to the top 10% of each undergraduate degree class at SDAU. Winning it once settles nothing. The first-year award rests on the Class 12 result, and every later year is decided again on the previous year's grade point average.

It also cannot sit beside any other government scholarship: a selected student found drawing one is debarred, and the place goes to the next student in merit.

This is Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University's own merit award for its degree students, paid under a Gujarat Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Cooperation Department scheme, and it is the most widely held award on the university's own scholarship table. Read in September 2026, that table listed 215 undergraduates on it at Rs 3,000 a month each, more than the other four awards on the same table put together (SDAU student scholarship table).

The rules that govern it today are an amendment. The university's Board of Management approved revised rules for its undergraduate and postgraduate fellowships, and the Director of Students' Welfare notified them under the title "Amendment of Rules/Regulation of the Fellowship for the Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate Studies". That notification hangs off the scheme's entry on Mari Yojana, the Gujarat government's all-department scheme portal, where the entry sits under that same department (Mari Yojana; Mari Yojana scheme directory). The entry's summary speaks only of "the University" and never names Dantiwada; SDAU's notification is the document behind its more-information link, and it carries conditions the myScheme listing leaves out.

The stated purpose is candid about what the university wants back. The notification says the award exists to draw bright students into SDAU's undergraduate faculties so that, on finishing, they may join the University and help in the overall development of agriculture, the work it says SDAU is committed to in North Gujarat. Nothing in the rules binds an awardee to do so.

The rules have the Registrar announce the fellowship by the end of November and take applications until the end of December, the same cycle the scheme record's official FAQ gives with exact days. As of late September 2026, SDAU's circulars page carries no notice for this fellowship, so the current year's notification has not yet been posted there. The scheme record leaves the open and close dates blank.

Who can apply

Eligibility criteria

Only students on the rolls of an SDAU degree programme are in the pool, and each class of each programme is counted on its own: the university table allots the award to "10% of the total strength of the students in each class of the Colleges/Degree Programmes in each faculty" (SDAU student scholarship table). The degree programmes the university's college pages list are these.

Two more colleges on the university's list, the College of Agriculture at Bhuj and the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology at Tharad, show no degree programme on their own pages yet, so a student there should have the Dean's office confirm that the class is counted for the award (SDAU colleges; College of Agriculture, Bhuj; College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Tharad).

The Class 12 marks floor in the scheme record is a gate, not the ranking. What decides a first-year place is where you stand in your class, and the rule's wording on that point is looser than the myScheme listing makes it sound. The notification says the first-year award goes on "admission merit of Higher Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent examination", while the myScheme FAQ reads it as the Class 12 marks alone (SDAU fellowship notification, on Mari Yojana; myScheme listing).

The two readings can produce different lists. The merit that actually admits a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture student at SDAU blends the Class 12 theory total with the current year's GUJCET total, weighted sixty to forty ("કુલગુણના ૬૦ ટકા તથા ચાલુ વર્ષની ગુજકેટમાં મેળવેલ કુલગુણના ૪૦ ટકા"), so a student admitted high on a strong GUJCET score need not be in the top tenth on Class 12 marks (SDAU B.Sc. Agriculture programme page). The notification's wording leaves open which of the two lists the committee ranks, so the Dean's office of your college is the place to ask before you assume either.

The amended rule adds one condition the listing leaves out. A candidate must be a "fresh student (continuous study)", so a student whose studies were interrupted may fall outside it (SDAU fellowship notification, on Mari Yojana).

Who cannot apply

Exclusions

The exclusion to check first is the one on other money. The notification says a candidate should not be availing any other Government fellowship or scholarship, and debars one who is (SDAU fellowship notification, on Mari Yojana). For an undergraduate already drawing a caste-based or income-based government scholarship, that makes this a choice between the two awards rather than an extra.

Compare what each pays over a full year before giving either up, and ask the Registrar's office in writing whether the other award counts, since the notification speaks of "any other Government fellowship or scholarship" without listing them. The discipline and unfair-means bars in the record apply to conduct inside SDAU's own colleges and examinations.

Renewal conditions

Nothing carries over automatically. After the first year, the notification awards the fellowship to the students with the highest grade point average in the previous year, so every holder is re-ranked against the whole class each year (SDAU fellowship notification, on Mari Yojana).

That gives a continuing student two separate tests. One is the floor in the record: a grade point average (G.P.A. or C.C.P.A.) below the stated minimum, or a single "F" or "I" grade, ends the award whatever your rank. The other is the rank itself. Clearing the floor keeps you eligible, not funded, because each later year's fellowships go to the highest averages in the class, and a classmate who overtakes you takes the place.

An "I" grade is worth singling out. It marks an incomplete, not a fail, but the rule treats the two the same, so whatever leaves a course incomplete at semester end costs the fellowship as surely as a failed course.

The amount is Rs 3,000 a month to each selected student, and it is the rate the university itself publishes (SDAU student scholarship table). The state directory's entry for the scheme gives the same rate and runs it for all twelve months of the year ("સ્નાતક કક્ષામાં અભ્યાસ કરતાં વિદ્યાર્થીઓને ૧૨ મહિના માટે દર મહીને ૩૦૦૦/-", twelve months at Rs 3,000) (Mari Yojana directory; SDAU student scholarship table).

The benefits line of the myScheme listing still prints a lower monthly amount, although the FAQ on the same listing gives the higher one. The amended notification sets Rs 3,000, and SDAU's own table still showed Rs 3,000 when read in September 2026 (SDAU student scholarship table), so treat the lower line as out of date, not as a rate that some students receive.

Three things sit around the money:

• Concessions. The notification permits awardees to enjoy a free railway or bus concession, or a fee concession: the non-cash part of an award the myScheme listing types as composite. Neither the notification nor the university table names the operator or the fee head.
• Start date. Payment runs from the date of joining the college, so a first-year student selected partway through the year is paid from joining on the rule's wording, not from the date of selection.
• Release. The notification has the Principal of your college pay the fellowship "in a year" on your satisfactory progress report. Budget for money that arrives once your progress has been reported, not for a credit on the first of each month.

• Undergraduate Students: ₹1,000/- per month to each selected student. - Travel Concessions: Awardees would be permitted to enjoy Free Railway/ Bus concession ot fee concession.
• Note: Payment of Fellowship: The payment of fellowship to the awardees will start from the date of joining the college.

What to prepare

Documents required

The record's list of documents is built around a first-year claim: the Class 12 mark sheet is the one the first-year rank rests on. A continuing student is ranked on the previous year's grade point average, which that list does not mention, so carry your latest grade sheet with the application.

The bank account needs the most care. The notification makes the colleges responsible for paying by Direct Benefit Transfer into an account linked with Aadhaar (SDAU fellowship notification, on Mari Yojana), so use an account in your own name and confirm its Aadhaar link with your bank before the form goes in.

Step by step

How to apply

The application is on paper, to the Registrar, after the Registrar notifies the fellowship for the year. Nothing about it runs online: the university's scholarship table shows only a dash in the application-link column for this award, and the scheme record lists offline application only (SDAU student scholarship table).

In practice the path runs through your college. Watch the college notice board and the university's circulars page for the Registrar's notification, collect the prescribed form it names, and submit it with the documents to the Registrar's office before the deadline. Keep a copy of everything you hand over, with the date of receipt.

Tracking Your Application and Payment

The claim exists as the paper form lodged with the Registrar, and neither SDAU's table nor the scheme record points to anything a student can look up online. Selection is tracked through the Registrar's office, which receives the applications. Payment is tracked through the Principal's office of your own college, because the Principal releases the money on your progress report.

Once paid, the credit should show in the Aadhaar-linked account named in your form, so your bank statement is the record of payment. If a sanctioned payment has not arrived, the first question for the college office is whether your progress report went in; the second is whether the account on file is the one linked to Aadhaar.

How winners are picked

Selection process

The Registrar who notifies the award and receives the forms also sits on the panel that picks the fellows, with SDAU's Director of Students' Welfare and the Dean of each faculty, and the notification asks that panel for merit and nothing else (SDAU fellowship notification, on Mari Yojana).

The merit order keeps working after the list is out. When a selected student turns out to be drawing another government award, the notification debars that student and passes the fellowship to the next meritorious student, so a student just below the line in a class can still be reached.

The size of a class sets the number of awards. The College of Food Technology admits 40 students a year to its Bachelor of Technology, so a class at that intake would carry four fellowships at the 10% rate (College of Food Technology; SDAU student scholarship table). The rules publish no tie-break and no weighting beyond the merit list itself.

Fine print

Terms & conditions

The award stops the moment the student stops being a regular, well-conducted student. The notification ends it if an awardee is placed on conduct probation or leaves the course incomplete, and it withholds it from a student who has dropped a course as a regular student, withdrawal aside (SDAU fellowship notification, on Mari Yojana). Conduct probation is the condition the myScheme listing does not mention, and it is enough on its own.

The concessions are framed as an awardee's, so a student who loses the fellowship should confirm with the college office whether the railway, bus or fee concession goes with it, rather than find out at the next fee payment.
