Gujarat's Stipend Scheme for Poultry Farming Training for Divyang People pays an adult with a disability up to Rs 2,000 for attending a six-day poultry-keeping course, and hands over a training certificate at the end (myScheme record, archived). The course runs at the Intensive Poultry Development Project offices and District Poultry Extension Centres. The money is a daily allowance plus travel fare, paid straight into the trainee's bank account.

The Directorate of Animal Husbandry now presents the stipend as the first half of a two-part offer for divyang beneficiaries, and states its aim as supplementary employment (Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Gujarat). The second half is a unit of 40 RIR (Rhode Island Red) or Kadaknath birds with feed, for which the state meets 90% of the cost (Directorate scheme data).

A resolution of the Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Cooperation Department approved on 20 June 2026 (ACD/PAR/e-file/2/2024/3837/P1) keeps both running for the ongoing financial year (૨૦૨૬-૨૭ in the GR): the divyang bird unit as a budget line of its own, and the stipend inside one poultry training stipend line that does not name divyang trainees separately (Government Resolution). The fit is an adult in Gujarat with a disability certificate who wants to start rearing poultry. It pays nothing towards school or college study.

The Directorate and the June 2026 GR give the stipend no opening or closing date; the Directorate's two timing rules run from the applicant's own steps instead (Directorate scheme data):

• Printouts and documents that are not uploaded must reach the office within the 7-day limit.
• A bird-unit application counts only in the financial year in which the training was completed.

The approval is renewed by financial year. The GR of 20 June 2026 continues the scheme for ૨૦૨૬-૨૭, and it cites the department's resolution of 20 June 2025, which had approved it for ૨૦૨૫-૨૬ (Government Resolution).

Eligibility criteria

The stipend rests on three facts about the applicant: an adult, a resident of Gujarat, and a divyang person, which in practice means someone holding a disability certificate from the competent authority (myScheme record, archived). The Directorate's divyang page asks for that certificate with the application and gives women priority (Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Gujarat).

Income is the condition the official sources state differently. myScheme treats an income proof certificate as compulsory and gives priority to below-poverty-line applicants (myScheme record, archived). The June 2026 GR sets no stipend terms written for divyang trainees: its stipend annexure is addressed to economically weaker-section beneficiaries, and there income proof means a below-poverty-line, rural-poor or urban-poor certificate (Government Resolution). The Directorate's divyang page asks for the disability certificate and says nothing about income, so an applicant with no below-poverty-line or poor-household certificate should ask the poultry office which income papers it will accept.

The same GR reserves ૫% (five per cent) of the scheme's benefits for divyang persons holding a valid certificate, with priority to divyang women, under Sections 24 and 37 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (Government Resolution). Neither the GR nor the Directorate's page nor the myScheme card sets a minimum percentage of disability; each asks only for the certificate. For the bird unit there is one more test: the poultry training must have been completed in the same financial year as the application (Directorate scheme data).

Exclusions

myScheme publishes no exclusion list for this scheme, but the Directorate's own conditions rule people out in four practical ways (Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Gujarat):

• A second member of a family that has already drawn the stipend or the bird unit, since each is limited to one family member once in a lifetime.
• A resident of another state, as the offer is for divyang beneficiaries of Gujarat only.
• Anyone asking for the bird unit on the strength of training taken in an earlier financial year.
• An applicant whose papers miss the Directorate's time limit, because only applications received within it are taken up for approval.

Renewal conditions

There is nothing to renew. The Directorate limits both the stipend and the bird unit to one member of a family, once in a lifetime (Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Gujarat).

The Rs 2,000 cap is the only per-trainee amount the Directorate and the GR print. The split into a daily allowance for each training day and a to-and-fro travel fare comes from myScheme's card:

The GR's stipend annexure adds that the payment is made by Direct Benefit Transfer, that an attendance register is kept for the course, and that the trainee receives a certificate carrying a photograph once the training ends (Government Resolution).

The start-up element comes after the course. For the divyang bird unit, the state gives 90% of the total cost or a maximum of Rs 10,800 in kind, as 40 birds plus poultry feed rather than cash (Directorate scheme data; myScheme, archived). The GR's costing sheet puts the whole unit at Rs ૧૨૦૦૦, of which the state meets Rs ૧૦૮૦૦ (the Rs 10,800 above) for birds already raised to six to eight weeks and their grower mash, and the trainee brings the remaining Rs ૧૨૦૦, one-tenth of the cost, in kind: a coop or bamboo basket to shut the flock in at night plus feeding and watering equipment (Government Resolution; myScheme, archived).

• The beneficiary will be given maximum ₹2000 (direct in bank account) stipend for six days training. (Considering ₹300/- per day, ₹1800/- for 6 days as daily allowance and ₹200/- as to & fro transport fare with the maximum total stipend ₹2000/-)
• Beneficiary will be given poultry training certificate after completion of training.

What the Directorate adds to myScheme's list is how the papers travel (Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Gujarat). They go in with the printout of the online iKhedut application; the barcoded ration card copy appears in its conditions without myScheme's "if applicable"; the Aadhaar card copy is needed when the Aadhaar number was entered on the form; and the disability certificate is submitted with the application itself.

myScheme marks the savings account passbook or cancelled cheque "if applicable", yet the GR's stipend annexure pays only by DBT into the trainee's account (Government Resolution), so a trainee with no bank account cannot be paid.

Step by step

How to apply

The stipend is applied for online on iKhedut, the Gujarat agriculture department's portal, and the bird unit on paper at the poultry office after training (Directorate scheme data). Put together, the Directorate's conditions and the GR give this sequence:

1. Register on iKhedut with an Aadhaar number and a mobile number, then apply for the poultry training stipend.
2. Either upload scans of the supporting documents with the application printout, or hand the printout and the documents to the office address named in the application within 7 days.
3. Wait for the component officer's prior approval on iKhedut, which follows the eligibility check.
4. Attend the six-day course at the Intensive Poultry Development Project office or District Poultry Extension Centre, where attendance is recorded.
5. Receive the stipend, which the office that ran the course pays online by Direct Benefit Transfer.
6. For the bird unit, submit a physical application at the nearest poultry development office or District Poultry Extension Centre once the training is done.

The official papers put registration and training in different orders. The GR approved on 20 June 2026 has the trainee apply online on iKhedut and then take the training at the poultry unit, after which that office pays the stipend online (Government Resolution). The Directorate's page, last updated on 2 September 2026, says in its How to Apply line that the online application is made after the training at the project office or extension centre, while its own first condition says only that the stipend is applied for online (Directorate scheme data). The steps above follow the GR; the poultry office running the batch is the one to confirm which order it uses.

The iKhedut address printed on the myScheme card for this scheme now forwards to the portal's new home page, so search the portal's scheme list for the poultry training stipend rather than expecting that link to open the form (iKhedut portal). myScheme's official answers still mention collecting a paper form at the nearest poultry office; the Directorate's current conditions route the stipend itself through iKhedut.

Tracking the Application and the Payment

Once an application is submitted, iKhedut tells the applicant that its status can be checked from the portal's application menu (iKhedut portal). The component officer's prior approval is also recorded on iKhedut, so an application still without approval is worth raising with the poultry office that will run the course (Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Gujarat). For the money itself, the bank statement is the check, since the stipend is a Direct Benefit Transfer paid online by that office (Government Resolution).

How winners are picked

Selection process

There is no merit test. After the eligibility check, the component officer gives prior approval on iKhedut according to the number of eligible applications and the physical target set for that district, following a procedure fixed by the Director of Animal Husbandry (Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Gujarat). Women and below-poverty-line applicants get priority (myScheme record, archived).

The district targets are tied to money. The GR pays assistance only within the fixed number of beneficiaries and the budget, and for ૨૦૨૬-૨૭ it provides Rs ૦.૪૪ crore (forty-four lakh rupees) for the poultry training stipend, a single line with no separate divyang share, and Rs ૦.૨૨ crore (twenty-two lakh rupees) for the divyang bird unit (Government Resolution). Its divyang reservation has a fallback: if too few divyang applicants come forward, the places go to other applicants who meet the conditions. Cost approval for each bird unit sits with the divisional Joint Director of Animal Husbandry.

Terms & conditions

The stipend asks little beyond attending the course and holding a bank account for the transfer. The bird unit asks more, and the GR sets it out (Government Resolution):

• The unit is to be kept going for two years under normal conditions.
• The poultry development office or extension centre vaccinates the birds on schedule.
• Sick birds go to that office's officer for treatment straight away.
• The beneficiary shows an account of income and expenditure whenever a government officer visits the farm.

The same GR orders social audit and third-party verification of the scheme from time to time.
