Overview

About SSSBMBCASC(VSSVS)

The Special Scholarship to Students Belonging to the Most Backward Castes among Scheduled Castes, also listed as the Vandaniya Sant Shri Vasiyadada Scholarship, is a state scholarship in Gujarat. It is run by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat, through its Director of Scheduled Castes Welfare, the directorate that handles educational and welfare schemes for Scheduled Caste students in the state.

The scheme is meant for school-going students from the Most Backward Castes within the Scheduled Caste category, a narrower group inside the wider SC list. It covers children enrolled in Standards I to X, so the support is aimed at the primary and secondary school years rather than higher or professional education.

The benefit is paid as cash. It sits within the department's set of educational schemes for weaker sections, which the department frames around the constitutional duty to promote the educational interests of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The eligibility conditions, income limits and amounts payable are set by the department.
