Skill Upgradation and Vocational Education Scheme: For Worker (P.B.O.C.W.W.B)(SUVESFWPBOCWWB)
Overview
About SUVESFWPBOCWWB
The Skill Upgradation and Vocational Education Scheme is run by the Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, which operates under the Labour Department, Punjab. It is one of the Board's welfare measures for construction and building workers registered with it, and this component is aimed at the worker who wants to build a formal skill or vocational qualification.
A registered worker who takes up skill training at a technical institution, such as an ITI or a polytechnic, can receive support toward the course fees along with boarding and lodging. The Board also runs a Recognition of Prior Learning route through the Punjab Skill Development Mission for workers who upgrade their skills at the worksite.
The benefit is paid as financial assistance toward the cost of acquiring a skill, so the training cost does not fall on the worker's household. It is open to building and construction workers who are registered with the Board in Punjab; registration with the Board is the starting point for claiming it.
