Overview

About SUVESFWCPBOCWWB

The Skill Upgradation and Vocational Education Scheme is run by the Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, a body that works under the Department of Labour, Punjab. The board was constituted in 2009 under the Building and Other Construction Workers' (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996, and registers construction workers so it can extend welfare benefits to them.

Under this scheme, the board helps registered workers and their children who take up skill training at technical institutions such as ITIs and polytechnic colleges. The support covers full course fees together with boarding and lodging. The aim is to move workers and their families toward recognised technical qualifications.

The scheme is meant for workers registered with the board and their wards, so eligibility flows from the worker's own registration as a Punjab construction worker. Support is directed at those pursuing vocational and technical courses, and the precise registration conditions and amounts are listed in the eligibility and benefits sections.
