Scholarship
Scholarships and Stipends(SASGJ)
Overview
About SASGJ
Scholarships and Stipends is a state scheme of the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department, Government of Gujarat. It provides cash support to athletes who compete at the national level, with a scholarship for those who win a medal and a stipend for those who take part without finishing on the podium.
The department, set up as a separate administrative division of the Gujarat government in December 1990, looks after sport, youth work and cultural affairs across the state. It runs this scheme through the Sports Authority of Gujarat, the autonomous body it oversees for athlete training and development.
The purpose is to encourage players from Gujarat to reach and perform at national competitions. To be considered you need to be a resident of the state and to have competed at a national-level event; the scholarship is reserved for medal winners, while participants qualify for the stipend.
