About SUATFA
The Scholarship to Undergo Advanced Training in the Field of Art is a Goa state scheme run by the Kala Academy under the Directorate of Art and Culture (Art, Culture and Museums Department). It helps talented Goan students take up advanced training across arts disciplines, among them Indian classical music and dance, drama, Western music, folk art, puppetry, painting and sculpture.
Selected students receive a scholarship of ₹3,000 a month, awarded for two years initially and extendable for up to three more. The support is meant for individual students from Goa rather than institutions, and selection turns on demonstrated ability in the chosen art form.
Applicants must be from Goa and aged between 16 and 30. Applications are invited through announcements in local newspapers, and the completed form and documents go to the Kala Academy in Panaji. Candidates are shortlisted after scrutiny and a practical demonstration in their art form.
