About SDAS
The Scholarship for Differently Abled Students is run by the Social Justice Department, Government of Kerala. It pays a cash scholarship whose amount is set by course level, from primary school through degree, professional, and postgraduate study, and blind students are additionally entitled to a reader's allowance.
The scheme helps students with disabilities meet the cost of studying. It is open to differently abled students who are permanent residents of Kerala, covering categories such as blindness, hearing impairment, orthopaedic disability, and mental retardation, subject to a disability certificate.
Applications are handled through the department's District Social Justice Officers. The scholarship carries a family income ceiling of Rs 36,000 a year, and students must have at least 40% marks and a disability of 40% or more.

Eligibility criteria
| The applicant should be a permanent resident of Kerala. | |
| The applicant should be a differently abled student. | |
| The differently abled student should have a disability of 40 % or more. | |
| Disability category of students (Blind / Deaf / Orthopedically handicapped/ Mental Retardation). | |
| The differently abled students studying in Schools, Colleges and attending Professional, PG courses and technical training are eligible to apply under the scheme. | |
| Students with disabilities who have secured at least 40% marks in the previous year can apply under the scheme. | |
| The annual family income of the applicant should be below ₹36,000/-. |
