Overview

About SATN

The Scholarship (Above VIII Standard) is a Tamil Nadu state scholarship for students with disabilities who have progressed beyond Class 8. It is run by the Department for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Government of Tamil Nadu, and administered through the Commissionerate for Welfare of the Differently Abled in Chennai.

The benefit is a cash scholarship toward the cost of continuing education. It is aimed at differently-abled students enrolled in government-recognised schools, colleges and training centres, covering the higher secondary years, degree study, and professional or vocational courses. The award is fixed by the department and increases with the level of study.

It is intended for differently-abled students studying above the eighth standard at recognised institutions in Tamil Nadu who meet the department's academic and enrolment conditions. The scholarship is paid as a direct cash benefit to help meet the recurring costs of staying in education.
