About SKBHCS
Safai Karmakar Ke Bachche Hetu Chhatravrtti Yojana is a state scholarship for the children of sanitation workers in Chhattisgarh. It is run by the state's Labour Department and administered through the Chhattisgarh Unorganized Workers State Social Security Board, the body that registers unorganized-sector workers and delivers their welfare schemes. The scheme was launched in 2015.
The purpose is to help families who depend on sanitation work meet the cost of educating their children. Support is paid as a cash scholarship, and the amount is set according to the child's stage of study, so a student in a higher course receives more than one in an earlier class. The money is meant to keep children in school and college rather than dropping out for want of fees.
Eligibility runs through the parent. A worker must be registered with the Chhattisgarh Unorganized Workers State Social Security Board, and the scholarship then covers their enrolled children. It is aimed at households in the unorganized sector, where a sanitation worker's income alone rarely stretches to tuition, examination and related education costs.

Who can apply
Eligibility criteria
| Only 2 sons/daughters of registered sanitation workers are eligible for the scholarship. | |
| The scholarship is provided for studying different courses. | |
| After admission in college/polytechnic or other course for engineering or medical education, the students receiving scholarship amount under this scheme but student must study for minimum one year in that course. | |
| If such a student is eligible to receive scholarship amount under any scheme of any other government department/institution, then he/she can choose any one scheme which is beneficial for him/her. | |
| The student cannot avail benefits of two schemes simultaneously. |
