About PLSS
The Punjabi Language Scholarship Scheme is a state scholarship run by the School Education Department, Government of Haryana. It rewards students who secure merit in the Punjabi subject in the Class 8 or Class 10 examination conducted by the Haryana Board of School Education, Bhiwani.
The aim is to encourage students across Haryana to keep studying Punjabi as they move up through school. There are two separate qualifying tracks, and the award continues only where the student keeps Punjabi in the next class: Class 9 after a Class 8 result, or Class 11 after a Class 10 result. The benefit is paid in cash to the individual student and renewed in later classes on satisfactory performance.
This is a merit award rather than a need-based grant. It is aimed at students who both perform well in Punjabi and stay with the language into the next class, so it rewards sustained study of the subject through the middle and senior school years.

Award & benefits
- Scholarship Amount: ₹ 50/- per month for students of Class IX & X.
- ₹ 75/- per month for students of Class XI & XII.
- Mode of Disbursement: Scholarships are directly transferred to the student's bank account.
- Frequency of Disbursement: Scholarships are disbursed monthly.
- Validity: Scholarships are renewed in the next classes based on satisfactory performance.
