Overview

About PSCBOCW

Providing Scholarships to Children of BOC Workers is a state education-assistance scheme run by the Andhra Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, the statutory body that administers welfare programmes for registered construction workers in the state. The Board sits under the Andhra Pradesh government's labour administration and was constituted under the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996, which requires every state to set up such a board and lets it fund educational support for workers' children.

The scheme gives cash assistance towards the schooling and higher studies of a registered worker's children. Its purpose is to offset part of the cost of staying in education, and it is open to students across several levels: classes 9 to 12 and Intermediate, ITI courses, and graduation.

Support is tied to the parent's registration with the Board, and it covers up to two children per family. Because the benefit follows the worker's registration, both eligibility and the amount depend on the level of study and the Board's current rules rather than on the student alone.
