Overview
About PMSSW/WCPFP
The Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme supports the dependent wards and widows of Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles personnel. It is run by the Welfare and Rehabilitation Board (WARB), which the Ministry of Home Affairs set up to look after serving and ex-CPF personnel, their next of kin and separated families. The scheme has run since the 2006-07 academic year and is funded by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
The purpose is to encourage higher technical and professional education, in fields such as engineering, medicine, dental and veterinary science, MBA and MCA at recognised institutions. The benefit is a cash scholarship paid by direct benefit transfer, held for the duration of the course up to a maximum of five years.
It is meant for the wards and widows of Central Police Force personnel, covering forces such as the BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, NSG and Assam Rifles. Around 2,000 fresh scholarships are sanctioned each year, split between girls and boys, alongside renewals carried over from earlier years. Whether a particular applicant qualifies depends on the eligibility conditions set out below.
