About RGPSWOBH
The Rajbhasha Gaurav Puraskar is an award of the Department of Official Language, the wing of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs that implements the Official Languages Act, 1963. The department was set up as a separate body in June 1975, and its award schemes exist to widen the use of Hindi in government and public life. This scheme rewards the writing of original books in Hindi on academic and technical subjects.
The award is given across several categories: books on science and technical fields such as engineering, computer science, medicine and management; books on law, forensic science, criminology and police administration; books on culture, religion, art and heritage; a separate category for authors from the 'C' region; and translated works. To be considered, an author or co-author must be an Indian citizen, and the book must carry an ISBN, run to at least 100 pages, and be an original work rather than a thesis, novel, poem, play or textbook.
Selected authors receive a cash prize, a certificate and a memento, with the first prize reaching ₹2,00,000 in the science and technical category and smaller amounts in the other categories. The Department of Official Language runs the scheme offline: an author downloads the entry proforma from the department's website and sends it with three copies of the published book before the closing date announced for each cycle.

| Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Physics, Biology, Energy, Space Science, Medicine, Chemistry, Information Technology, Management, Psychology, etc; Contemporary subjects such as Liberalisation, Globalisation, Consumerism, Human Rights and Pollution etc. | |

| General Conditions | In case of Author is more than one, each co-author must fill out the proforma separately. |
| General Conditions | Under the scheme only those books that are original works of the author in Hindi, are accepted. Translated books are not accepted. |
| General Conditions | Books awarded previously by any government organization will not become eligible. The author of the book must inform the Department of Official Language immediately if the book is awarded under any other award scheme before the declaration of the awards under the above-mentioned schemes. |

The objective of the scheme “Rajbhasha Gaurav Puraskar Scheme for Writing Original Book in Hindi” is to encourage writing books originally in Hindi and to promote the Official Language.

Apart from the cash prizes, awardees will be presented with a certificate and a memento to honor their achievement. Additionally, authors/publishers retain the copyright of the award-winning book.
Yes, awardees traveling from places other than the designated award distribution location will be provided to and fro fare for 2nd AC. They will also receive a daily allowance as per the rules of the Government of India. However, lodging arrangements are to be made by the awardee at their own expense.
