Programme For Internship For LL.B./ LL.M./ Environmental Studies/ Research Students(PFIFLLESRS)
Overview
About PFIFLLESRS
This is an internship programme run by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the specialised body that hears cases on environmental protection and the conservation of forests and other natural resources. The tribunal was established in 2010 under the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010, and its principal bench sits at Copernicus Marg, New Delhi, with regional benches in Bhopal, Pune, Kolkata and Chennai. On myScheme the programme is listed under the Department of Legal Affairs.
The tribunal takes interns in two cycles through the year: a summer intake, held ordinarily in March, April, May and July, and a winter intake, held ordinarily in November, December and January. Interns work alongside the tribunal on legal research and case work tied to environmental adjudication, which gives law and environment students exposure to how a specialised environmental court functions.
The programme is open to students of LL.B. and LL.M., along with those in environmental studies and research disciplines. The benefit is in kind rather than financial: the tribunal does not pay a stipend, and interns receive a certificate of internship on completing the placement.
If you are considering it, read the current notice on the NGT and myScheme pages before applying, since the intake months, the batch strength and the application route are fixed by the tribunal for each cycle.
