About PREMSSD
The Pre-Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities is a school-stage scholarship that the Social Welfare Department of the Union Territory administration of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu runs for students with disabilities studying in classes 9 and 10. It follows the design of the Central Sector pre-matric scheme of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, delivered locally to students within the UT.
The benefit is paid in cash, as a set of recurring allowances rather than a single grant: a monthly maintenance allowance, set higher for a student living in a hostel than for a day scholar, along with an annual book allowance and an annual disability allowance whose amount varies with the type of disability. The aim is to cover the day-to-day cost of staying in school so that a disability and a low household income do not push a student out before matriculation.
It is meant for students who hold a benchmark disability certificate, are enrolled in class 9 or 10 at a recognised institution, and whose family income falls under the scheme's ceiling. Applications are made online through the National Scholarship Portal after a one-time registration, and a Unique Disability ID (UDID) supports the disability claim.

Eligibility criteria
| The applicant should be a resident of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. | |
| The applicant should be a student with a benchmark disability and possess a valid Disability Certificate issued by the competent authority under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. | |
| The applicant should be studying in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu or should be a bona fide resident of the Union Territory pursuing eligible studies. | |
| The applicant's parent(s)/guardian(s) should have an annual income from all sources that does not exceed ₹2,50,000. | |
| The applicant should be one of not more than two children with disabilities from the same parents receiving benefits under the scheme. | |
| The applicant may be eligible if the second child is a twin and both twins have disabilities. | |
| The applicant should have an active bank account linked to Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). | |
| The applicant should not be receiving any other scholarship or stipend for the same purpose from any other source. | |
