Overview

About PAMATN

The Perarignar Anna Memorial Award is a state scholarship run by the Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. It carries a cash benefit and is awarded on the strength of a student's Class 12 result.

The award recognises students from the Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities who place among the top two ranks in their district in the Tamil Nadu Class 12 public examination. The aim is to help these students move into professional and higher education after school, so eligibility turns on your standing within your own district rather than a single state-wide list.

Support is paid as an annual cash award across the years of a professional degree course. The scheme takes its name from C.N. Annadurai, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu who is remembered by the honorific Perarignar Anna.

Applications are made through the district office of the Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department.
