Prize Schemes to the Students (State Level Prizes)(PSSLP)
Overview
About PSSLP
Prize Schemes to the Students (State Level Prizes) is a merit award run by the Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. It recognises students from Backward Classes (BC), Most Backward Classes (MBC), and Denotified Communities (DNC) who do well in their school examinations.
The benefit is a cash prize. The scheme sits within the department's wider set of student welfare measures, which range from scholarships to free uniforms and bicycles, and its purpose here is to reward strong academic performance and encourage students from these communities to continue in school.
Eligibility is limited to students from the listed communities studying in Government, Government-Aided, and Private schools in Tamil Nadu. As a state welfare scheme, it does not extend beyond these categories, and awards are decided by the department. The exact marks and prize amounts are set out on the scheme's official listing, and applications generally route through the student's school.
