Overview

About PETALSE

The Pre-Examination Training Centre for All India Service Examinations is run by the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. It gives candidates from the state's Adi Dravidar and tribal communities free pre-examination coaching, together with boarding and lodging, to prepare for the All India Services examinations conducted through the Union Public Service Commission, including the IAS, IPS and IRS.

The support is composite. It pairs classroom training with free boarding and lodging, so that an eligible candidate can prepare full time without paying for coaching or accommodation.

The scheme is meant for candidates from the Adi Dravidar and tribal communities in Tamil Nadu who intend to sit the All India Services examinations. It sits within the department's wider set of educational welfare measures for these communities, which range from pre-matric and post-matric scholarships to residential schools and hostels.
