Orientation Courses in Dramatics(OCD)
Overview
About OCD
The Orientation Courses in Dramatics scheme is run by the Tiatr Academy of Goa, a state body that works to preserve and develop tiatr, the Konkani-language stage theatre that has been performed in Goa for well over a century. The Academy was set up in 2009 and functions under the Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa.
Through this scheme the Academy provides preliminary training and workshops covering different parts of dramatics, such as script writing and acting. The stated aim is to raise the quality of tiatr performances by strengthening the craft behind them. The benefit is given in kind, as instruction and workshop participation rather than a cash payment.
The courses are meant for individuals who want to learn the elements of tiatr, as well as for existing tiatr artistes looking to sharpen specific skills. Enrolment, dates and other course details are decided by the Tiatr Academy of Goa, so anyone interested should confirm the current arrangements with the Academy before applying.
