About NSCBBR
The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Boys Residential Hostel Scheme is run by the School Education Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, and provides free residential schooling for boys in Classes 1 to 8. It is aimed at boys who find it hardest to stay in school: orphans, homeless and destitute children, child labourers, children living on the streets or on railway platforms, children of a single parent, and boys who have dropped out.
The scheme shares its name with the residential schools and hostels that the Government of India renamed after Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose under Samagra Shiksha, its integrated scheme for school education. In that national programme, 1,063 such facilities were sanctioned in all, made up of 383 residential schools and 680 hostels, meant to give shelter and care alongside schooling to children in remote areas and to disadvantaged children in towns and cities.
For the boys it takes in, the scheme gives support in kind rather than cash: residence, meals, clothing, books, uniforms and medical care. The aim is to keep primary-school-age boys enrolled and studying when their circumstances make a residential place the practical route to continuing school.

| Boys who have dropped out of school because a middle school is not available within a 3 km radius or a high school/higher secondary school is not available within a 5 km radius of their village. | |
