The 2026-27 round ran through the portal, and its calendar does not match the older description of this scheme that still circulates, in which forms go out in June and July and the exam is held in September. Where the two disagree, the portal is the one to follow.

The gap between the manual's 22 May exam date and the 7 July sitting is worth remembering: dates in this scheme move, and the portal notice board, not the manual, carries the operative one.

The scheme draws a double boundary around government schooling: you must be a regular (institutional) Class 9 student of a government or government-aided school in Uttarakhand, and your Class 8 pass must also have come from such a school in the state. A student who cleared Class 8 at a private school and then moved to a government school for Class 9 falls outside it, as do students of Central schools and residential schools. The parental income question, which sinks so many applications elsewhere, simply does not arise here: the portal's own brief states there is no restriction on the guardian's income (SCERT Scholarship Portal).

The source record publishes no separate exclusion list, but the eligibility design itself shuts out three groups: private-school students, students of Central and residential schools, and anyone already drawing another state scholarship, since double benefits under multiple state schemes are barred. SCERT treats that last rule seriously enough to keep a dedicated "Dual Benefit of Scholarship" circular among the scheme's official documents (Important Circulars and GOs, SCERT Scholarship Portal).

The award is not a one-time prize; it runs year by year. The published rate table conditions both the Class 9 and the Class 10 payments on prescribed marks and attendance rather than on a fresh sitting of the exam (SCERT Scholarship Portal), and the eligibility criteria set those floors, with a relaxation for SC and ST students. In practice that means the exam gets you in once, and your Class 9 report card and attendance register decide whether the money continues into Class 10.

The secondary-level rate is flat: Rs 900 a month, for one year in each class (SCERT Scholarship Portal). The junior level climbs Rs 100 with every class from Rs 600 in Class 6, and then the rate stops climbing, so the secondary stage is the only one where two consecutive years pay the same.

Payment goes into the student's own Aadhaar-linked bank account, which is why the document list asks for those bank details up front rather than at disbursal time.

The official 2026-27 application form is a single page, and it is stricter than the generic document list suggests: name and date of birth must match Aadhaar exactly, and the form carries fields for the student's Aadhaar number, mobile number and email alongside the photograph and signature. Only two attachments are named on the form itself, a caste certificate (for SC and ST candidates only) and the Class 8 marksheet (Application Form 2026-27, SCERT). Getting the Aadhaar spelling right on day one matters because the same record follows the application through every later verification stage.

You do not apply alone; your school applies with you. The student fills the form, and the school then enters candidates on the SCERT Scholarship Portal at scholarshipscert.uk.gov.in, where each school logs in with its UDISE code as the login ID and a password issued through the Block Education Officer's office (portal user manual). The form is also downloadable from the portal's circulars section, so a student whose school has not distributed copies can still start on time. Tracking Your Application and Result

Everything after submission happens inside the same portal, which is what makes status-checking manageable. An application moves through a named verification chain, school, then Block Education Officer, then district, then SCERT, and an authority that finds a mistake can return it with remarks for correction instead of rejecting it outright (SCERT Scholarship Portal). The active scheme's last date shows on the applicant dashboard. Exam-side updates land in the portal's Announcements section: the answer key of the exam held on 7 July 2026 was uploaded there on 14 July (portal announcements). The scheme's own documents point to no other place for exam material, so treat a result offered anywhere else as somebody else's scheme.

Selection is a two-paper written test conducted by SCERT Uttarakhand, Dehradun: a Mental Ability Test of 100 multiple-choice questions and a Scholastic Aptitude Test of another 100, both MCQ format (SCERT Scholarship Portal). From each block, the top 10% of the students who appeared are selected on merit, and SC and ST candidates receive a 5% weightage in the competitive exam, which is a concession at the entry stage and separate from the 5% relaxation they get later on the Class 9 marks and attendance floors. The corresponding junior-level papers run 60 questions each, so a Class 6 sibling preparing alongside you faces a shorter test of the same shape. SCERT publishes exemplar papers for both levels, including CM-9 MAT and CM-9 SAT sets from the 2025 exam, on the portal's Exemplar Questions page, which is the closest thing to official preparation material this scheme has (Exemplar Questions, SCERT Scholarship Portal).

Three conditions do most of the disqualifying. You may hold only one state scholarship at a time, so accepting this award means surrendering any other Uttarakhand scheme you draw. The payments stay conditional on the prescribed marks and attendance throughout, not just at entry. And the whole process is free: there is no fee at any stage, so anyone charging for forms or "registration help" is not part of the scheme.

Your own school comes first, because applications are school-registered and the principal is the first verification authority. Beyond the school, the Block Education Officer's office handles portal credentials and forwarding.
