About MKAY
Mukhyamantri Konya Atmonirbhor Yojana (MKAY) is a state scheme run by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Tripura. It gives a free scooty to meritorious girl students who have just entered the first semester of an undergraduate course at a general degree college in the state.
The benefit is in kind rather than a cash grant: the student receives the two-wheeler itself, meant to cover the daily journey between home and college. The aim is to keep high-scoring girls in higher education by taking the cost and difficulty of commuting off the table.
You are the intended applicant if you are a female student domiciled in Tripura who has cleared higher secondary with strong marks and enrolled in the first semester of a general degree college. Selection is on merit, so the scooty reaches the top performers each year rather than every girl who meets the basic conditions.
