Overview

About MVSPKDPY

The Mahadevi Verma Shramik Pustak Kraya Dhan Yojana is a welfare scheme run by the Uttar Pradesh Labour Welfare Board, which sits under the state Labour Department. Named after the Hindi poet Mahadevi Verma, it was launched in 2022 to help the families of registered workers meet the cost of academic books for higher education.

The benefit is a one-time cash grant paid towards the purchase of books for postgraduate study. The aim is to lighten the expense of higher education for worker households, for whom the cost of study material can be a real barrier.

The scheme is meant for daughters of workers registered with the Board, and a woman worker who is herself pursuing postgraduate study can apply for the grant directly. Whether you qualify depends on the worker's registration, an income ceiling and a limit on how many daughters in a family can claim, all of which are set out in the scheme's own criteria.
