About LTSR
The Leather Training Scheme, known in Hindi as the Charma Prashikshan Yojana, is a Rajasthan state programme run by the state's Department of Industries and delivered through its District Industries Centres. Rajasthan introduced it in 1990 to draw leather work into the mainstream of its small-scale industrial sector and to give artisans a route into independent work.
The programme's stated aims are to promote the leather industry, improve the production and quality of leather products, encourage new designs, and generate self-employment. Training is given in two areas: Nagra jooti (traditional Rajasthani leather footwear) and other leather goods. It is a composite benefit: instruction during the course, followed by tool and setup support so a trainee can start a venture of their own.
It is meant for individuals in Rajasthan who want to build a livelihood in leather work, and admission is open to applicants across social categories. The District Industries Centres, the district-level offices of the Industries Department, handle selection, run the training, and support those setting up on their own afterward.

Who can apply
Eligibility criteria
| The applicant should be a native of Rajasthan. | |
| The applicant's age should be between 18 to 35 years. | |
| The applicant should belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), or General category. | |
| The applicant should be literate. | |
| Note 1: The Selection Committee has the authority to provide up to 10 years of age relaxation on a case-by-case basis. | |
| Note 2: Preference will be given to trainees who have passed 8th standard and are more educated. |

- Each trainee receives ₹500/- per month during the training period.
