Overview

About KM

Krushi Mahotsav is an annual, pre-monsoon agricultural outreach campaign run by the Government of Gujarat. It has been organised each year ahead of the Kharif sowing season. The nodal department is the Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Cooperation Department, with the Directorate of Agriculture coordinating fieldwork alongside the state agricultural universities and allied line departments.

The campaign runs on the idea of taking agricultural scientists to the doorstep of farmers. Teams visit villages to hold seminars, exhibitions and demonstrations, so that farmers can meet scientists and officials directly, learn about newer farming practices across agriculture, horticulture and allied sectors, and get information on the government schemes they are entitled to.

Support here is in kind rather than a cash transfer. During the visits, officials give on-the-ground guidance and distribute farm inputs and toolkits to beneficiaries of various agricultural assistance programmes, at the village level. The intended audience is farmers across Gujarat, who want practical advice and closer access to the state's farm support system.
