Overview

About ICSSR INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION

The ICSSR International Collaboration programme is a travel grant for social science scholars who have been invited to present at international seminars and conferences abroad. It is run by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), an autonomous body under the Department of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education. ICSSR was set up in New Delhi in 1969 and is the national body that funds and reviews social science research in India.

The grant reimburses the cost of taking part in an approved international conference, and myScheme records the benefit as cash. Its stated aim is to help invited scholars make substantial contributions to seminars of standing abroad, and to build academic links between social scientists in India and in other countries. Support is tied to a paper: the Council considers a grant only after you submit the full paper you will present.

The scheme is meant for faculty in regular service at public-funded universities, deemed-to-be universities, colleges, institutes of national importance, and ICSSR research or recognised institutes, who hold a PhD. PhD and post-doctoral scholars in the advanced stage of their research may also apply. Applications are expected well ahead of the event, and a request that reaches the Council after the conference has taken place will not be considered.
