About ICROAIP

The ICRO Amrit registration form puts a blunt question between your mobile number and your password: do you have a recommendation letter? It is not a formality. The letter has a prescribed format, a named addressee and a seal, and an applicant without one has nothing to upload. The second thing worth settling before you start is which website to open, because the apply link the scheme's own myScheme entry carries has stopped serving the form.

ICRO stands for the IPL Centre for Rural Outreach, set up by Indian Potash Limited with the technical involvement of the National Productivity Council, an apex body established in 1958 under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (ICRO Amrit Internship Programme guidelines). IPL runs the programme as part of its corporate social responsibility, and it brings to it a field network coordinated by 15 Regional Offices in various state capitals. Postings follow that shape rather than a single campus: the guidelines place interns at the headquarters and the regional offices of NPC and IPL.

The work itself is field work, not a desk assignment. IPL Foundation states that each intern is expected to reach out to 100 farmers during the internship, gathering information on their farming practices, their awareness of central and state government schemes and of public health issues, and their expectations, then submitting a report at the end (IPL Foundation, Amrit Internship Programme). A candidate who wants a certificate without leaving a town office is applying to the wrong programme.

The ICRO Amrit form is not tied to a calendar. The guidelines state that the internship programme shall be available throughout the year, with the terms and conditions effective from the date of joining, and the myScheme record carries neither an opening date nor a closing date (guidelines). Listings that present this as a dated round with a last date are describing a rolling programme that has no such date attached to it.

Eligibility criteria

The door is wider than the word internship usually implies. A Class 12 pass, a diploma holder, a graduate or a final-year graduation student can apply, and the age band runs from 18 to 45 years, so this is open to working rural youth and not only to current students (guidelines).

Two details in the guidelines are worth reading closely against the myScheme summary. First, the citizenship line there is not bare citizenship: it reads that the applicant should be a citizen of India having Aadhaar, and the application format asks for an identity proof number. Second, an agriculture qualification is a preference, not a bar; the guidelines give preference to candidates holding an agriculture or related sector qualification, and stop there.

There is no income ceiling. The guidelines set no family income limit, no marks percentage and no caste category condition, and myScheme's own eligibility checker for the programme puts exactly one mandatory question to the applicant, whether they are a citizen of India (myScheme eligibility check).

Exclusions

The source publishes no exclusion list, so the honest answer is what the guidelines make impossible rather than what they forbid. An offer is made on the strength of the information furnished in the application and resume, and the guidelines state it becomes null and void if a material error is discovered at any point of time (guidelines). In practice the recommendation letter is the harder filter: it must come from an institute, college, university, establishment, NPC office or IPL office, and an applicant with nobody willing to sign and seal it cannot complete the upload.

Renewal conditions

An internship runs for three months to begin with and can be renewed up to four times, with the terms taking effect from the date the intern joins (guidelines). The application format asks the candidate to state the total internship period applied for, in months, so the intended length is declared at the application stage rather than negotiated later. What the guidelines do not publish is a renewal test: there is no stated performance bar, assessment score or reporting requirement that decides whether a renewal is granted.

The stipend is a flat monthly figure with nothing layered on top, and the guidelines are unusually direct about the second half of that sentence.

If the posting is away from home, the stipend is the whole of what arrives; travel and accommodation are the intern's own cost. The guidelines also state plainly that the programme is neither employment nor an assurance of any employment with NPC, IPL or ICRO.

Beyond the money, interns get study material built for the assignment. IPL Foundation publishes e-learning modules covering cropping practices, innovation technologies and government schemes, handbooks for ICRO interns in Hindi, English, Oriya and Bengali, supplementary reading on preventive health care, and orientation programmes for Amrit interns (IPL Foundation).

• The selected intern shall be entitled to ₹ 6,000/- per month as a stipend during the period of internship.
• The interns will be issued an Internship Completion Certificate upon successful completion of the internship.
• NOTE: No payment towards transportation and other allowance etc. shall be paid to the interns.

What to prepare

Documents required

Four uploads are listed on the myScheme record, and their file limits are strict enough to fail an application on a scan that is too large (myScheme, ICRO Amrit Internship Programme). The record does not say what the recommendation letter has to look like, and that is the part applicants get wrong.

The guidelines carry the letter as Annex-II, a fixed format addressed to the Head, IPL Centre for Rural Outreach, at the NPC Building on Lodi Road, New Delhi. It names the applicant, quotes the applicant's Aadhaar number, states that the recommendation is based on the signatory's own verification and personal knowledge of the applicant, and carries a signature with seal plus the signatory's name, designation, email and mobile number (guidelines). IPL Foundation words the same requirement as a recommendation letter from the implementing agency. A general character certificate on college letterhead does not answer it.

Step by step

How to apply

Start by working out which address is live, because three different ones are in circulation.

The guidelines direct applicants to apply online at www.icroamrit.npcindia.gov.in, and the myScheme record lists the apply link as the Register page on that same host (myScheme). Both of those addresses were serving a Django host-configuration error instead of an application form when this page was checked in September 2026. The registration page that does load sits at amritinternship.iplfoundation.org.in, is branded ICRO AMRIT and footed NPC, and asks for name, email ID, date of birth, mobile number, a password, and the yes-or-no question about the recommendation letter. IPL Foundation's programme page points somewhere else again: it names www.elearning.iplfoundation.org.in as the online application portal, and its Register as New Intern button opens that learning site, whose sign-up asks only for a name, an email address and a password (IPL Foundation, Amrit Internship Programme). The two live sites are doing different jobs, and the fuller form, the one that takes the date of birth and the recommendation-letter answer, is the amritinternship one.

The sequence after registration is set by the programme's task list rather than by a counselling calendar: register, upload the recommendation letter, study the e-learning module and pass its assessment, then carry out the farmer outreach and submit the report at the end (IPL Foundation).

There is no National Scholarship Portal step and no PFMS payment tracker to watch, because myScheme lists the application mode as online through this programme's own portal (myScheme). Tracking is therefore the plainest kind: the login screen on the same site asks for a user name and a password and carries a Forgot Password link that resets the account, so a candidate who has lost the credentials created at registration is not locked out of their own file. For anything the login screen does not answer, including a stipend that has not arrived, the guidelines name a single office, the IPL Centre for Rural Outreach at the NPC Building, and the concerned Head at the office where the intern is placed.

How winners are picked

Selection process

Selection is made on the recommendations of a committee set up by NPC and IPL, and that is the whole of the published rule (guidelines). No written test, no interview round and no merit list are described. Placement follows separately: interns are posted to the head office or a regional office depending on the preference the intern states and the requirement of the offices concerned, so the preference entered on the form is a real input into where the three months are spent.

The assessment that does exist comes after selection, not before it. Passing the e-learning module's assessment questionnaire sits inside the intern's task list, not inside the application (IPL Foundation).

Terms & conditions

Three conditions change what an applicant is agreeing to, and none of them is obvious from the benefit line.

An intern may leave, but the exit costs the certificate: the guidelines require seven working days of prior notice to the concerned Head, and state that no certificate shall be awarded to an intern who leaves that way (guidelines). NPC, IPL or ICRO may end an engagement at any time in cases of discipline or misconduct without assigning any reason, and the decision is stated to be final. And the non-disclosure obligation on proprietary or confidential information continues after the internship expires, not only during it, with any liability from a breach resting on the intern.
