Integrated Hostel Scheme(IHS)
Overview
About IHS
The Integrated Hostel Scheme is a residential-support programme run by the Tribal Welfare and Scheduled Caste (SC) Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh. It houses students from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Class families while they study, with priority for those from remote rural areas who live far from their institution.
The benefit is in kind rather than cash. Each hostel provides free accommodation with meals, furniture and bedding, along with electricity, water, a library and coaching. Cover runs from class 1 through class 12 and continues to college level.
Applications are handled online through the state's MPTAAS portal, the Madhya Pradesh Tribal Affairs and Scheduled Caste Welfare Automation System, where a student registers a beneficiary profile and applies. The department that runs the portal administers the hostels, which are open to SC, ST and OBC students who are natives of Madhya Pradesh and study in a government institution in the state.
