About HRASFTS

The Hostel Rent Assistance Scheme for Tribal Students is a Rajasthan state scheme administered by the Tribal Area Development Department. It offers financial assistance towards hostel rent for Scheduled Tribe students who stay in rented accommodation away from home so they can attend college regularly.

The support is paid as cash. It is meant for ST students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses in government colleges of Rajasthan who have taken a room on rent for the purpose of their studies.

The Tribal Area Development Department is the state's nodal body for tribal welfare and runs education support, hostels and related assistance for Scheduled Tribe students across Rajasthan. The rent assistance is paid at Rs 500, Rs 400 or Rs 300 a month depending on whether the college is at a divisional headquarters, a district headquarters or elsewhere, for up to ten months a year and a maximum of five academic years.
