Overview

About GPWECERAF

This is a state-level scheme run by the Department of Sainik Welfare, Government of Rajasthan. It offers a cash grant toward coaching to children of ex-servicemen from Rajasthan who clear the written stage of a defence entrance examination.

The qualifying tests it covers are the written examinations for the National Defence Academy (NDA), Combined Defence Services (CDS), Indian Military Academy (IMA), the Air Force and the Naval Academy. The grant is meant to help a candidate meet coaching costs once the written examination is passed, ahead of the later selection stages.

The money is drawn from the Amalgamated Fund, the welfare fund from which the department runs these schemes. The Department of Sainik Welfare works through the Rajya Sainik Board at the state level and Zila Sainik Boards in each district, which handle the welfare of ex-servicemen, their dependents and war widows in Rajasthan.

The benefit is a cash grant rather than a fee waiver or loan, and it is aimed at the children of ex-servicemen registered in Rajasthan. Eligibility rests on the parent's ex-serviceman status and on the candidate having passed the relevant written examination.
