Grant-in-aid Scheme to Village Education Committees/Urban Education Committees for minor repairs of Government School buildings(GSVEC)
Overview
About GSVEC
The Grant-in-aid Scheme to Village Education Committees/Urban Education Committees for minor repairs of Government School buildings is a state scheme run by the Directorate of Education, Government of Goa. It funds small repair work on government school buildings, with the grant routed through the local education committee that looks after each school rather than paid to any individual.
The benefit is a cash grant. It meets the cost of the repair work itself, which makes this an infrastructure grant rather than a personal award. Because the money is tied to a specific job on a school building, the applicant is the committee responsible for the school and not a student or parent.
In practice that applicant is a Village Education Committee for a rural school or an Urban Education Committee for a town school, both being the government bodies that manage the buildings. Proposals go to the Directorate of Education at Porvorim, which sanctions the grant.
