About GSBCY
The Gargi Sanskrit Balika Chhaatravrtti Yojana is a state scholarship run by the Department of Sanskrit Education, Uttarakhand. Through its Directorate of Sanskrit Education, the department oversees an integrated network of Sanskrit schools and colleges across the state, running from the foundational classes up to the Acharya level.
The scheme pays a fixed monthly cash scholarship to girl students enrolled in these Sanskrit institutions. Its purpose is to encourage and support girls who study Sanskrit through the middle and higher secondary years by offsetting part of the cost of their education.
Eligibility is limited to girls studying in Classes 6 to 12 at recognised Sanskrit schools in Uttarakhand. The award goes to a limited number of students each year, so meeting the class and enrolment conditions makes a girl eligible to apply rather than guaranteeing the scholarship. Applications are routed through the school, with the principal forwarding them to the district Assistant Director of Sanskrit Education.
