Overview

About FSBS

The Free Shoe and Bag Scheme is a State scheme run by the Department of Education, Government of Uttarakhand. It gives eligible school students a cash grant to buy a pair of shoes and a school bag, paid straight into a bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer rather than handed out as physical goods.

It is meant for children in Classes 1 to 8 who study in the state's government and government-aided schools. The grant is set at one rate for the lower primary grades and a higher rate for the upper primary grades.

The purpose is to cover two small, recurring start-of-year costs for families: a pair of shoes and a school bag. The support is a fixed cash grant provided each academic year to students who remain eligible.
