About FSW
Freeship Staff Ward (FSW) is a tuition-fee concession run by Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) at Pantnagar, the state agricultural university in Uttarakhand. It is listed on the national myScheme portal under the state's Agriculture Department, and it is meant for students who are wards of the university's own staff.
Eligible students receive a 50% concession on tuition fees while enrolled in one of the university's own programmes: a four-year undergraduate course, a three-year postgraduate course, or a three-year PhD. Because the support is tied to a staff member's employment at GBPUAT, it is not a general merit or income scholarship open to any student in the state.
The scheme runs offline. Applications are invited on a prescribed university form, after which the Dean of Student Welfare draws up the list of selected students, the Registrar and Vice-Chancellor approve it, and an office order confirms the tuition-fee waiver. The concession can run for the normal length of the course, up to four years for undergraduate students and three years each for postgraduate and doctoral students.
