Overview

About FASSAMEU

This is a state government scheme in Assam that offers a cash grant to Scheduled Caste students who reach the mains stage of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil services examination. It is run by the Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, a Government of Assam body that carries out welfare schemes for Scheduled Caste residents of the state.

The money is meant to ease the cost of preparing for and sitting the mains, the written stage that follows the preliminary round of the civil services examination. Support is paid in cash and released subject to the year's budget provision.

It is aimed at SC candidates from Assam who have cleared the preliminary round and are due to sit the mains. Eligible students apply online through the national myScheme portal, and the directorate checks each claim against its criteria and the documents submitted before the grant is approved.
