Overview

About FATNGO

The Financial Assistance to Non-Governmental Organisations scheme is run by the Department for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, part of the Government of Tamil Nadu. The department, headquartered in Chennai, was set up in the 1990s to handle rehabilitation and welfare work for people with disabilities in the state, and was later upgraded to a state commissioner's office. Under this scheme it provides financial assistance to non-governmental organisations that run a school for children with intellectual disability.

The applicant is the NGO itself, a registered voluntary body operating such a school, and the assistance funds the running of that school rather than a student or family.

This is a state scheme, available in Tamil Nadu, open to organisations whose special school for children with intellectual disability is registered under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act.
