Overview

About FAECBOBOCWWB

Financial Assistance for the Education of Children of the Beneficiary is a welfare scheme run by the Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board (OBOCWWB). The board was constituted on 3 January 2004 under Section 18 of the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996, and the Labour and Employees' State Insurance (ESI) Department, Government of Odisha, is the nodal department that implements it. The Labour Commissioner of Odisha is the board's member secretary and chief executive.

The scheme pays a cash education grant towards the studies of the children of workers registered with the board. It is one of several welfare measures the board funds for registered construction workers, and the money is released to the registered member for a child's schooling or further education.

The benefit follows the parent's registration rather than the student. You qualify only where a parent is a registered beneficiary of the board and has held that registration for the required period; where both spouses are registered, one of them claims the assistance. Claims are filed through the board's Nirman Shramik portal and the district labour welfare offices, with proof of the parent's registration and the child's course of study.
