Exposure Visits To The Assam Legislative Assembly(EVTALA)
Overview
About EVTALA
Exposure Visits to the Assam Legislative Assembly is a state scheme run by the Parliamentary Affairs Department, Government of Assam. It was announced in the budget speech of the July 2016 session and is aimed at students of Political Science in the state.
The benefit is in kind rather than a cash award. Selected students sit in on the Assembly while it is in session and watch the House at work, meeting figures including the Speaker, the Chief Minister, ministers, MLAs and senior officials. The idea is to give Political Science students a first-hand sense of how the legislature and state governance function.
It is meant for students of Political Science in Assam, drawn from colleges across the state's districts. It takes the form of an organised visit arranged by the department rather than an award that students apply for individually.
