About ESTASCS
The Encouragement Scheme for Taking Admission in Science and Contemporary Subjects is a state scholarship for Scheduled Tribe students in Madhya Pradesh. It is run by the Madhya Pradesh Tribal Affairs Department, and approval, acceptance and payment are handled online through the MPTAAS portal (the Madhya Pradesh Tribal Affairs Automation System) at tribal.mp.gov.in.
The scheme encourages Scheduled Tribe students to take up science at two stages. The first award goes to students who have passed Class 10 and taken admission in Class 11 in the science stream. The second goes to students who have passed Class 12 and enrolled in a B.Sc. course in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology. Eligibility rests on being a Scheduled Tribe student who is a native of Madhya Pradesh and has secured admission to one of these courses.
The benefit is a cash scholarship, set at ₹2,000 for the Class 11 science stage and ₹3,000 for the B.Sc. stage, credited directly to the student's bank account. You apply online through the MPTAAS portal rather than at an office, current status is sent to your registered email and mobile, and you can track the application on the portal. There is no application fee.
