Overview

About ELSGBCDC

The Educational Loan Scheme is run by the Gujarat Backward Classes Development Corporation (GBCDC), a state undertaking under Gujarat's Social Justice and Empowerment Department. GBCDC has acted as a State Channelising Agency for the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation since 1997-98, routing central funds into loan schemes for backward-class households in the state.

The scheme lends money at concessional interest rates so that students can meet the cost of higher technical and professional study. It covers graduate and postgraduate programmes in fields such as engineering, medicine, MBA and MCA, where course fees and living costs often put professional education out of reach without borrowing.

It is meant for students from Gujarat who belong to the socially and educationally backward classes (SEBC) recognised by the state. Because this is a loan rather than a grant, the amount is repayable, and eligibility depends on the caste and course conditions GBCDC sets. You should confirm the current terms and the list of approved courses with the corporation before you apply.
