Overview

About EAS-GLWB

The Educational Award Scheme is run by the Gujarat Labour Welfare Board, which operates under the Labour, Skill Development and Employment Department of the Government of Gujarat. The board was set up under the Bombay Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1953, and it funds welfare measures for workers in the state, covering educational awards, medical services and childcare among others.

The award is a cash payment made to a student. Its stated aim is to encourage the children of labourers to stay in education and go on to higher study, and it rewards those who perform well in their board examinations. The amount a student receives depends on the level at which they qualify.

The scheme is for the children of workers employed in factories and establishments in Gujarat. A student applies after clearing Class 10 or Class 12 with strong marks, with applications made online.
