Overview

About EA(ABOCWWB)

Educational Assistance is a scholarship run by the Assam Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board, which sits under the Commissionerate of Labour, Government of Assam. It is one of several welfare benefits the Board pays to workers it has registered, alongside support for medical care, maternity, pension and housing.

The scheme puts money behind the schooling of a registered worker's children, from Class I through to post-graduation. The amount is set by the stage of study and rises as the child moves up, and where a child gains admission to a government institution such as an IIT or an engineering or medical college, the Board undertakes to bear the expenses of that course.

Eligibility runs through the parent, not the student alone. The children who qualify are those of construction workers who are registered as beneficiaries of the Board and hold active membership; the worker's standing with the Board is what opens the assistance. The precise slabs and documents required are listed on the scheme's official pages.
