Education Loan Scheme under NSFDC- Haryana(ELSNSFDC)
Overview
About ELSNSFDC
The Education Loan Scheme under NSFDC is the Haryana route to central education lending for Scheduled Caste students. Within the state it is run by the Welfare of Scheduled Caste and Backward Classes Department through the Haryana Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation, which acts as the channelising agency for funds released by the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC).
NSFDC is a Section 8 not-for-profit company set up in 1989 under the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. It finances income-generating and educational activity for people from Scheduled Caste families and lends through State Channelizing Agencies in each state rather than to students directly.
This is a loan rather than a scholarship, so the amount borrowed is repayable. It is aimed at Scheduled Caste students who are permanent residents of Haryana and hold admission to a recognised full-time professional or technical course, and the funding can go towards study within India as well as higher education abroad.
