Overview

About FACC(HBOCWWB)

The Financial Assistance for Coaching Classes scheme is run by the Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (HBOCWWB), which sits under the state's Labour Department. The Board was constituted under section 18 of the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996, and draws most of its funds from a 1% cess levied on construction work across government, public and private projects in Haryana. Educational support for the children of registered workers is one of the welfare heads it administers.

The scheme puts money behind exam coaching. It reimburses part of the coaching fee when a registered worker's child takes admission to coaching for professional or technical courses, and a separate, larger grant is offered to a candidate who has cleared the preliminary stage of the UPSC or the state public service examination and is preparing for the main examination. The benefit is paid as cash assistance.

It is meant for the children of construction workers who are registered as beneficiaries with the Board, not for the general public. Registration with the Board and the conditions it sets on marks, family income and the number of children covered per worker decide who can claim.
