Education Development Scholarship for Single Girl Child(EDSSGC)
Overview
About EDSSGC
The Education Development Scholarship for Single Girl Child is run by the School Education Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh. It is meant for a girl who is the only girl child of her parents, and it exists to keep her in school when the cost of staying on for Class 11 and 12 might otherwise end her education. The benefit is cash: ₹5,000 per year.
To qualify, a student must be a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh and the only girl child of her parents, studying in Class 11 or 12 at a recognised private school. She also needs to have passed Class 10 under the Madhya Pradesh board with at least 60% marks. These conditions, and the documents the state asks for as proof, are set out in the scheme's official record.
There is no direct online application. A student applies through her school: the class teacher enters her details on the state's Shiksha Portal, the School Education Department's system for student records, against the certificates she provides. Once the claim is approved, the ₹5,000 is paid straight into the student's own bank account.
