About EA/PHDS(GBOCWWB)
The Education Assistance/Ph.D Scheme is a welfare measure run by the Gujarat Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (GBOCWWB), which sits under the state's Labour, Skill Development and Employment Department. The board was constituted under the Building and Other Construction Workers Act, 1996, and funds welfare programmes for workers registered with it.
The scheme pays cash assistance once a year to help a registered construction worker's children meet the cost of their education. It supports up to two children per worker, covering study from school grades through graduate and postgraduate courses and, as the scheme's name reflects, on to doctoral (Ph.D) study at government-recognised institutions in the state.
Eligibility runs through the parent's registration rather than through the student alone, so a family qualifies once the construction worker is an enrolled beneficiary of the board. Workers register on the board's e-Nirman portal and apply for the benefit online through the state's Sanman portal.

Who can apply
Eligibility criteria
| The children of construction workers registered with the Gujarat Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board will be eligible to get the benefit of this scheme. | |
| The son or daughter of a registered worker should be enrolled in any grade from Class I up to higher education or professional course. | |
| The financial assistance will be provided once a year to two children of a construction worker. | |
| Terms and Conditions | The age limit for children of construction workers to get scholarships should be a maximum of 30 years. If the son or daughter is handicapped or handicapped then there will be no age limit. |
| Terms and Conditions | Which will be limited to the first trial in the academic year. A person who fails in the same standard/class will not be eligible for second aid for the same standard/class. |
| Terms and Conditions | Board assistance is not admissible if any registered construction worker's child is admitted through the Right to Education/studying in an Open University/studying externally or receiving any similar assistance from other departments. |
