Early Intervention Centre for the Visually Impaired(EICFTVI)
Overview
About EICFTVI
The Early Intervention Centre for the Visually Impaired is a Tamil Nadu scheme run by the state's Department for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, through its Commissionerate for Welfare of the Differently Abled. It works with young children who are visually impaired, identifying them early, assessing their needs and preparing them to join mainstream schooling.
The support comes in kind rather than as a cash grant. Centres operate in six districts and provide early intervention services to children below six years.
The scheme is meant for families of a visually impaired child living in one of these districts. Enrolment is handled offline through the District Differently Abled Welfare Officer, with proof of the child's disability and age.
