Overview

About EAFA

Education Assistance - Folk Artist is a cash scholarship run by the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Tamil Nadu. It is administered through the Tamil Nadu Folk Artistes Welfare Board, which the state set up by Government Order in 2007 to give registered folk artistes social security and welfare support.

The scheme helps pay for the schooling and higher education of a registered folk artiste's children. Support runs from Class X through postgraduate degrees and professional courses, and can extend to hostel fees where the child stays away to study.

Assistance is meant for the son or daughter of an artiste enrolled with the Board, and is limited to two children per family. The artiste's Board membership must be current and properly renewed.
