Dr. P. G. Solanki Scheme for Stipend to Scheduled Caste Lawyers(DPGSSSSCL)
Overview
About DPGSSSSCL
The Dr. P. G. Solanki Scheme for Stipend to Scheduled Caste Lawyers is a Gujarat state scheme run by the Directorate of Scheduled Caste Welfare, part of the state's Social Justice and Empowerment Department. Launched in 2000 and named after Dr. P. G. Solanki, it is one of the directorate's economic-upliftment schemes.
The scheme supports law graduates from the Scheduled Caste category during their first years in practice, when many struggle to earn a steady income. It pays a young advocate a monthly stipend for three years while they train under a senior lawyer: Rs.1,000 a month in the first year, Rs.800 in the second and Rs.600 in the third. The senior lawyer who provides the training is paid Rs.500 a month. The aim is to stop financial pressure from ending a capable graduate's practice early.
It is meant for Scheduled Caste law graduates who are natives of Gujarat and are training under a senior advocate. A junior advocate must apply within two years of registering with the Gujarat Bar Council, and the training senior advocate must have practised for at least ten years. Applications are handled through the state's Scheduled Caste welfare offices and the e-Samaj Kalyan portal.
